5801 Control technician

An engineering company is currently seeking skilled control technician. The experienced candidate will be responsible for the servicing, commissioning and troubleshooting of environmental control system and providing product support to customers.

Duties and Responsibilities: Perform service, start-ups, repairs, and trouble-shoot building environment control systems. Performs preventative service as part of service agreements and periodic inspections, replacement and modifications as needed or requested by the customers. Keeps current on all products concerning installation, operation, maintenance, service and repairs. Provide technical support and basic training to customers. Prepare documentation (shop-drawings, etc).

Qualification: Ideally technologist diploma in Electronics, Process Control, Building Automation or equivalent. Experience in pneumatic and electronic automation temperature control systems. Familiarity with basic programming requirements for DDC Systems. Have WHMIS and Fall Protection Certificates. Able to interpret blueprints, interpret electrical schematics, read engineering specifications, project plans or other technical documents. Good working knowledge of the operations, installation and servicing of peripheral devices. Troubleshooting and problem solving skills, able to diagnose problems and implement cost effective solutions. Demonstrate commitment to excellence in customer service. Able to work with minimal supervision, as well as, in a team environment. Good verbal and written communication skills. Good knowledge on computers. Available for occasional after hours and weekend shifts for after hours service. Travel to customers’ jobsite is required. Travel within the Greater Toronto Area. Work hours will vary. Attending emergency calls on evenings and/or weekends. Own a vehicle and have a driving license.
