Frequently Asked Questions about AYCE
Q: How does your program work?
A: We are primarily a youth employment centre funded by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. In our Job Connect Program, we have both Employment Counsellors and Job Developers who work with young people who are between the ages of 16-24,or up to 29 with a disability, to assess their skills, and assist each person to find full time employment. If there are other areas that our clients need help with in order to find a job, for example finding a place to live, we will help with that too. Visit our "For Youth" section on this website for more details.
We also have a program for adult newcomers to Canada. Visit our "For Adults" section on this website for more details.
Q: How do I get to AYCE?
A: AYCE is on the south west corner of Victoria Park and Consumers Road. Our address is 505 Consumers Road, Suite 102 and we are on the main floor of the building. You can take the 24A bus from either Don Mills or Victoria Park station.
Visit the "How to find us" section on this web site for more details.
Q: Do you give out tokens?
A: Some youth clients may be eligible for tokens. Once you are assessed by an Employment Counsellor, we will know if you qualify for TTC support.
Q: What hours are you open?
A:
Monday 9:00am - 5:00pm
Tuesday 9:00am - 5:00pm
Wednesday 9:00am - 5:00pm
Thursday 9:00am - 6:30pm
Friday 9:00am - 4:00pm
Saturday (Closed)
Sunday (Closed)
Q: If I am between 16 and 24 years of age, what will happen when I get to AYCE? How will you (AYCE) help me find a job?
A: When you first come in, you will meet with an Employment Counsellor who will make sure you are eligible for our program, conduct an assesment and listen to any other concerns you may have. This takes about 45 minutes. Your Employment Counsellor will help you to look for and apply for jobs. Then, you may be referred to a Job Developer who will also work with you to help you find a job.
