General Information for Employers
AYCE is committed to helping employers satisfy their staffing needs. We prepare people to meet the standards required in today's workplace. AYCE provides the following either through 1) Employment Service, 2) Summer Jobs Service, or 3) General Job Posting Service:
  • all recruiting, placement, and job posting services free of charge
  • training incentives
  • job trials for prospective employees at no cost to employers
  • recruiting services
  • pre-screened candidates
  • employer/candidate matching services
  • on-going support in the workplace
  • job posting services on our web site and in our resource centre- including full time jobs, and part time jobs
  • part-time job posting service for local students
  • training for your current employees such as Service Excellence Training, ServSafe Food Handler Training, Smart Serve Training
1) Employment Service
Funded by the Ontario government, AYCE provides many of the services listed above. Through Employment Service, employers may be provided with a partial wage subsidy for providing on-the-job training. The program is designed to help businesses train suitable candidates, resulting in job placements that are satisfying to both employers and employees. Employment Service also offers employers a job trial period for your prospective employee so that you can be sure you are hiring the right person before placing that candidate on your payroll. AYCE pays the candidate during the job trial period. To access these services at AYCE:
  1. Ensure that you meet eligibility requirements for employers:
    1. You maintain appropriate WSIB or alternate workplace safety insurance coverage
    2. You have adequate third party general liability insurance
  2. Identify full or part-time positions you need to fill now, or job vacancies that you may have in the near future.
  3. Call us at: (416) 491-7000 and ask to speak with a Job Developer. A Job Developer will help you to assess your staffing needs, and will refer appropriate candidates, or print out, complete, and fax the Job Order Form to AYCE. One of our Job Developers will contact you shortly.
  4. Interview the candidates we have pre-screened for you or simply make use of a job trial at no cost to help you make your final selection.
  5. Hire the person you want.
  6. We will work in partnership with you to identify candidates who meet your needs. Through on-going support, we help the person you hire to become a productive member of your team.
2) SUMMER JOBS SERVICE (SJS)
Funded by the Ontario Government, the Summer Jobs Service support employers who wish to hire college and university students in the summer months. Employers may be provided with a $2 per hour wage subsidy for providing a summer job for a young people. The program is specifically designed to encourage businesses to provide summer jobs for students. To use our Summer Jobs Service at AYCE:
  1. Ensure that you meet eligibility requirements for employers:
    1. You maintain appropriate WSIB or alternate workplace safety insurance coverage
    2. You have adequate third party general liability insurance
  2. Identify full or part-time summer positions you will provide this summer.
  3. Call us at: (416) 491-7000 and ask to speak with the Summer Jobs Co-ordinator
    1. We will provide you with the appropriate forms and refer appropriate candidates, OR
    2. Print out, complete, and fax the Employer Form to AYCE. The Summer Jobs Service Co-ordinator will contact you shortly.
  4. Interview the students we pre-screen for you or indicate if you have a student that you wish to hire for the position.
  5. Hire the student.
3) GENERAL JOB POSTING SERVICE AT AYCE:
To use this service:
  1. Fill out Job Order Form
  2. Fax your Job Posting with the Job Order Form to AYCE at 416-491-4669.
  3. Call 416-491-7000 and ask for the general Job Posting Service. We will take information about your job(s) and post the job(s) on our web site and/or in our Resource Area. Or, email your job posting to resourcecentre@ayce.on.ca and we will post your job in our Resource Area. It's up to you.
