Job Search Workshop for Newcomers

For recent adult immigrants to Canada - Job Search Workshop (JSW)

Job Search Workshop (JSW) is a five-day workshop program that helps recent immigrants to Canada to develop the skills needed to find employment in the shortest possible time. At AYCE, these culturally sensitive pre-employment workshops are held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and workshop participants receive individual follow-up and assistance.

In the program participants practicing interview skills, learn to develop resumes and effective cover letters, learn how to complete application forms, assess and identify their skills, learn how to make cold calls, learn how to network to access the hidden job market, learn about the local labour market, develop employment action plans.

To be eligible for the JSW program, the individuals should be a Landed Immigrant or Conventional Refugee or Live-in Caregiver. The program is provided in English so participants should have an intermediate level of English.

To register for the Job Search Workshop program, come in to AYCE, complete a JSW registration form, and reserve a space in the next available 5-day session.
